I create pottery as a means to communicate with the soul - my soul, our collective soul, soul of this planet and all it's beings
At the beginning I liked making bowls the most. Slowly I moved to other products as well but kept the word bowls "misky" in my name. Lucky means Lucie's in Czech but I hope that the name will bring me luck as well ;)
Hi, my name is Lucie. I have been repeatedly tempted to do pottery in my life and finally in 2019, at the magical age of 42, I made the decision to start doing something about it, found a great co-working place and started learning to work with clay. I was very lucky that this place provided access to all different technologies - electrical firing, gas, RAKU, wood firing, I have met many inspiring and knowledgeable people to learn from and could learn, experiment and slowly define my own ways how to do pottery.
I always wanted to make bowls. I like their open shape that is asking to be filled with something warm, something good, something pretty.
But I didn't stick to bowls. I started making also cups, my favorite are hand-thrown and hand-cut small coffee cups that I make as a full moon or new moon ritual and my way of communicating with the soul. In the same way I make rings and beads and various other jewelry items.
I also mix my own glazes. My favorite is ash glaze - plain "milky white" or colored by different oxides to reach blue, turquoise or green. I like working with recycled mix of clays and be surprised how each kiln comes out.
In the spring of 2023 I found an injured pigeon on the Vltava river banks. I rescued her and contacted a pigeon rescue organization Holubi v nouzi to help her. I learned about how pigeons are treated these days in most cities, how their population is "managed" and what could be done about it. I immediately knew this is a wholesome project that deserves support and my pigeon inspired me to start making charity pigeon plates. Since then, I have a pet pigeon couple at home but in time they will go live in the aviary for handicapped pigeons of this organization. I am very glad to say that I have made over 100 of these plates so far and this way contributed to a better live for many pigeons in Prague. Some of my pottery can be bought here in my e-shop, but some things are available only for individual pick up or markets that I go to. I also like making sets of bowls, cups or plates upon request - aligning with the owner on best size, clay and glaze colors out of my selection.
